Any sense of being outside in dreams in the open air will suggest a degree of spiritual freedom. We are free from the restrictions of the mundane world. Being shut out suggests rejection by others but if we ourselves are shutting something out then we are not prepared to include what is represented in our lives. In the mundane world a sense of not belonging to a peer group can lead to a feeling of isolation, of being an outcast. In waking life we are aware of restrictions and boundaries that are not necessarily self-imposed. Any sense of being beyond some kind of boundary can mean one of two things: either we have deliberately put ourselves ?beyond the pale? or we have inadvertently offended against the rules of the society or group.
