In family relations Gemini tries not to create conflicts and disagreements, because they dislike being shouted at, lectured, criticised and suppressed. This does not always work out, however, and their own behaviour may unwittingly become the cause of quarrels in the family. Quite often they promise to do something and then forget it: for the children, a trip to the circus or a new bicycle; for the partner, going to the shop or cleaning the flat. Their unreliability and childlike spontaneity can lead to long-running discord in the family. Yet despite certain shortcomings, Gemini is valued and loved in the family, all the more so because in a Gemini's house it is never dull. They love inviting guests, taking the family off somewhere for fun or booking excursions. They find it hard to sit still at home, so they must constantly be on the move. Standing at the stove for hours, doing a thorough clean for half a day or scrubbing pots does not interest Gemini; it tires them quickly. They will hardly dust the house every day, and if the hall light bulb has burnt out, it may well shine again only a week later, when inspiration strikes or when they want praise for their domestic labour. So, to free up more time for themselves, for the family and for their own affairs, they prefer to let household chores accumulate and do them all in a single day with the help of the other family members. Sometimes the family takes offence because Gemini spends so much time with friends. Gemini is also capable of going out for bread in the morning and coming back only in the evening - and not with bread, but with a cake or a bottle of cola for the children. As for the family budget, Gemini prefers not to plan the list of expenses and necessary purchases for the family; they like to shift that duty onto their partner or their parents. Their business is to bring the money home so that their efforts are noted and praised - after that it no longer matters. If some decision has to be taken in the family, Gemini will state their point of view and everything they think on the subject, but will not insist, leaving the last word to their partner. With their children they always find a common language and become friends to them.
