In the family Pisces are valued for their gentleness, kindness and refinement. They always support their family members, know how to listen, to soothe and to give wise advice. Pisces strive to create harmony, calm and serenity in their home. They do not seek to take the leading position in the family, to command and to direct. Far more important to them is to surround every family member with care and attention, though in return they want the same. They dislike conflict and, if possible, strive to avoid quarrels and scenes: where necessary they will keep silent, where necessary they will take the role of the victim who must be pitied and given undivided attention. They love spending most of their time within the family circle, in the home setting. They invite guests reluctantly. In their home one may see several interior styles at once. They do not chase after expensive, unusual or fashionable furniture. They strive to create a warm atmosphere through calm tones; Pisces attach great importance to accessories – pictures of nature, plenty of green plants and flowers, coloured cushions on the sofa. Very often they keep dogs, cats, budgerigars, hamsters or fish at home, because they love animals and in this way feel a reunion with nature and the peace of mind they need. They do not care to deal with questions of material well-being themselves and prefer to shift them onto the shoulders of others – onto partners or parents. They can lend money to anyone, even to someone they hardly know, especially if they are told a heart-rending story or hear about a personal tragedy. Pisces are very sensitive and compassionate. They deal with household affairs according to their mood. If inspiration is there, they can get a great deal done in a single day and give attention to every member of the family; but if they are apathetic and dissatisfied with their life, they can spend the whole day or evening sitting in silence, buried in the television or a favourite book, and speaking to no one. The household will be at a loss and will try to find out what has happened. They will have to make considerable efforts to cheer them up and raise their spirits. As for solving household problems, Pisces prefer not to take responsibility but to hand the authority in such cases entirely to the other family members. Towards children Pisces are very kind and affectionate parents, who sometimes allow their offspring too much and spoil them.
