Power and Spiritual authority often act as a goad so we can improve our knowledge. The trident depicted in images of the God Neptune is a goad and represents illusion, intuition and inspiration ? a threefold spur towards understanding. Psychologically, we are all goaded by our own more aggressive and negative parts. Often a dream can reveal how we are making things difficult for ourselves and indicate which part is becoming too aggressive. The goad can be shown in many ways, not just as the conventional spiked stick. Often if we are goading somebody to do something they do not want to do, we must take care that we are not creating circumstances that could rebound on us. We may be trying to force people to take action to move forward but we must also be aware that we need to be in control of that particular movement.
